MAYAN WEDDINGS

BODAS MAYAS

Spiritual Ceremony

They are a mix of ancient traditions and contemporary elements, which honor our Mayan cultural heritage and its deep respect for nature and community and which we commonly celebrate outdoors. These ceremonies have a strong focus on spirituality and connection to the land and the Mayan gods

Weddings are led by a shaman, who connects with the spiritual world and pronounces blessings on the couple, and are a unique and meaningful way to unite two people in marriage.

                              Union of Love and Tradition

We perform Mayan weddings outdoors, so you can connect with the natural beauty of the region and its surroundings. Nature is an important element, since the Mayans had a strong connection with the natural world.

Offerings and rituals: Before the ceremony, purification rituals and offerings are made to the Mayan gods, such as corn, which was a sacred food for them. This symbolizes the search for divine blessing for marriage.

Exchanging vows and rings: As in Western weddings, the Mayan couple exchanges vows and rings as a symbol of their commitment to each other.

Three-strand union: In some ceremonies, a three-strand bond is used to unite the couple and symbolize their unity. Each thread represents the couple, the community and the Mayan gods.

Invocation of the four cardinal points: An invocation is made to the four cardinal points, which are fundamental in the Mayan worldview, so that they grant their protection to the couple.

Traditional party and food: After the ceremony, a party is held with traditional music and dance. Authentic Mayan dishes are served, which were part of the ancestral diet.
